Downcast has always been one of the most inexpensive podcast clients available despite its long list of features. I’d like to keep it that way but it needs to generate more revenue in order to continue adding the features podcast listeners want and expand to other platforms.
Some of Downcast's competitors have switched to a shareware model they’re calling patronage. I think products like Downcast, which require a staggering time commitment to create and maintain, deserve a reasonable minimum price. So, I’m going with an alternative model with Downcast where it will remain a low-priced paid app but will also allow users to leave tips.
Over the years, many of Downcast’s users have offered additional financial support. Tips, in the form of in-app purchases, will finally facilitate this. I’m hoping it will be enough to secure Downcast’s future and allow me to take it to the next level.
If you use Downcast on a daily basis it’s probably worth far more to you than the sales price anyway. With that in mind, please consider leaving a tip to help ensure Downcast's continued growth.
Leaving a tip doesn't get you anything extra right now. This may change in the future as Downcast expands. For now, it's just a way to directly support the ongoing development of Downcast.

- On iPhone (v2.9.8+) - Tap the More tab, then tap Support Downcast
- On iPad (v2.9.8+) - Tap the Gear icon at the top right, then tap Support Downcast
- On Mac OS - Can't do it yet, I'll be adding support for it in the near future though.
